Okay, Kopete has an option now to set the intial status (accessible by
Settings -> Configure -> Behavior). Maybe, "Offline" should be made the
default?

The problem also occurs after the system resumes from hibernate, i.e.
Kopete connects to all IM services even when you have manually
disconnected from them before hibernating.
