Thanks. I tried the enable_mtrr_cleanup line earlier and added the
mtrr_spare_reg_nr=0 later (in menu.lst), it didn't make the driver work.

Thanks. The full lspci output had already been added automatically. I
think it was just Bryce's bug handling script that made noise.
Section 10.7 in the FAQ at http://wiki.x.org/wiki/radeonhd explains that
this is a kernel/BIOS issue.
