Yes, funny, although reinstall did not work, a remove and install did!
(I thought the semantics were the same, but anyway...)
Still I'd keep the BUG open because I think it can be easily solved and
even this little workaround is unnecessary.

I experienced the same after upgrading to jaunty beta, flashplugin-nonfree
reinstall failed with the same error message as above.
It worked though when I marked the package for complete removal in synaptic and
then afterwards installed it again.

I solved this by editing /var/cache/debconf/config.dat:
Look for flashplugin-nonfree/httpget and change Value to true.

Correction: Doing the aforementioned change allows the installation
but the value get reverted after trying to view flash media and trying to
"install additional plugins".
