I remove the upstream task, one bugtask is enough. With the new
aptdaemon backend this becomes feasible now.

I have no problem storing a text document without root privileges. I
might be ignorant of the inner workings of the update-manager, and
please forgive me. I fail to see how this can not be accomplished in
the same manner. I don't think it is a good idea to do a privilege
escalation until absolut
When update-manager checks for updates, it downloads lists of packages
and stores them for the package manager to use. If it did not do this,
there would be no persistent memory of what happened during the check.
That would be bad, because the lists can be large, and it takes a while
to download th
