Here is temporary fix: Unmount SDCARD prior to suspend by running a
script in /etc/pm/sleep.d

Not sure which version of kernel got the fix for bug #477106, but my
Dell D420 running 2.6.32.31 still fails to suspend, and as I mentioned
in my posting above it also fails in 2.6.34-020634-generic.

I've been experiencing this problem ever since the upgrade to 10.04. I
did not experience it with 9.04. Thanks to Mike for noticing the SD card
connection: Indeed, with an SD card installed, machine stays powered
with a black screen (backlight still on). No SD card, suspend works.
