aria2 supercedes wget because it allows multithreaded segmented downloads,
which can potentially speed up download by 5-10 times. And the size of
aria2 is very small anyway. Yes we install wget by default for scripts,

installed by default would be the only real reason to put it into main.
We ship wget by default which suits 99% of use cases (for the few users
who use command line tools for web retrieval in the first place).
