as far as i understood upstream evdev will *only* work with touchscreens
driven by the usbtouchscreen kernel module, thats only a small subset.

It could be a good solution for your seed, since it's a specific need
for the mobile use case. evdev will be eventually replacing evtouch but
you can drop it once (if) that happens.

sadly evtouch might clash with the upstream decision of exclusively
using evdev for touchscreens (which in turn only works with touchscreens
using the usbtouchscreen kernel driver) we have to test first if there
is no breakage introduced through putting in evtouch.
