I installed KDE 4.2 from the kbuntu.org ppa (http://ppa.launchpad.net
/kubuntu-experimental/ubuntu). When I try to use it, however, it crashes
fairly soon after logging in. This happens at various times. One of the
times is when I click on a menu bar item. Xorg.log.
Actually this is a known problem between Kwin and NVidia driver.

Update scripts should disable backing store in xorg.conf when enabled
for NVidia cards.

Ah I found a workaround. I commented out the "BackingStore" option in my
xorg.conf device section, and all is well.
