I've added dontzap, as that it the package with the issue you are
investigating.
I do not see this as a true problem, but rather a consequence of poor
hand editing. Perhaps the dontzap package could choose to validate your
x config and if it fails offer some options, but this is getting way out
of

First, why replace at all? Whether it's formatted correctly ought not
to matter. Remember, we're just trying to add an option line.

As is said, the config is not properly laid out, but X will attempt to
make sense out of a poor config, guessing on what it thinks you wanted
to do.
Looking through the log, it shows that it couldn't find a matching video
device section and guessed that you meant the ATI one. The config is not

I'm not sure why you say that, because I've been using it successfully
ever since intrepid and now on jaunty-alpha. It's attached.
The main things I need are the virtual size and the EXA acceleration.
And they both get enabled.

It works correctly on my system. It's a fresh install from a daily cd
from a couple of days ago and all recent updates.
Oh, and that xorg.conf is invalid. Please look at it closely. I thinkt
thats why it displaces it, as none of the configured video or screens
are actually used. I'd be interested
