Hello.
Confirmed.
Setting language to Finnish also makes the calendar work correctly
with Monday as first day of the week.
Is there some way to set the local from control panel?
Changing it from environment variables is too hard for average user.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Since you seem to be using the American English locale
this is most likely not a bug but the default behaviour . If you set
your language to Finnish the calendar should adjust to show Monday as
the first day of the
