i just got the same problem as described above, but with ubuntu 8.10 and
gedit 2.24.2:
- print preview stays gray (background), no preview is shown.
- printing does not start, just the 'status bar' appears within the
gedit-window and showing "Rendering page %high_increasing_number of 1...

I went there and round in circules. Maybe it (BUG) will die once we all
upgraded. I'm getting a bit piffed with being asked awkward questions
that I do not fully understand. Like try from the command line. I can
open a terminal then I'm stuck as to what to do. Or being asked for
more details w

I have the same problem but no matter what I try to print i gedit, it
get the rendering loop and nothing is printed. Print preview is empty.
I am running Ubuntu 8.04.
Now I have to print out of other applications.
Any help on this will be appreciated

What Samuel is reporting is exactly what I saw ages ago. I've un-
installed gedit and re-installed it. Same problem. Wonder if this is
more gnome than gedit? Also if I print preview a few times the hole
thing locks and I have to reboot ubuntu. Other than that gedit works
fine. Other unrelated

Print". In the print dialog I select "Print to File" (output format
"pdf") and click the "Print" button. The attached screenshot shows the
result. The number after "Rendering page" is counting rapidly upwards.
After 10 seconds
I open Gedit, enter "Hello world" and select the print preview through
the menu "File > Print Preview". The attachment shows the result, no
preview but only a gray area.

I have a similar problem on Ubuntu 8.10. I open Gedit, enter "Hello
world". The print preview should show the Text entered, but the field
where the white paper with the text should appear remains gray.
If I try to print (File > Print... > Print to File > Print) a yellow bar
appears above the edit
Just had an idea. Print to pdf then you can see what it prints. By the
way print preview hangs preparing the page with the yellowish band
across the top of the screen. I can system monitor kill the gedit
process but next time I enter gedit I have the same problem. Suspect if
I reboot it will be

All that I did was to load an asc file attached by clicking it in the Nautilus
2.22.5.1 window, a few simple edits, then file/print and it should have printed
two sheets and all that came out of the printer was the second sheet.
