Same problem described in duplicate bug #332772.
Also there is workaround and an interesting screenshot, so may be it
will help to fix it.

This also happens on my Dell laptop. I found disabling wireless from
Network Manager stops this problem.

thanks for the reply. When I edited the boot line I found 'quiet' but no
'splash'.
I removed 'quiet', but it made no difference.
