Odd that this is registered against metacity; the key combo works fine
in metacity, it's compiz where it (still) doesn't work. But whatever,
maybe compiz inherits keystrokes from metacity? Anyway, would be really
nice to get this solved, it's my #1 annoyance with compiz.

Issue still persists on 9.10 ...
gconf-editor -> apps -> metacity -> global_keybindings ->
switch_windows_backward
-> "Tab"
does the trick though.

I concur. Same issue in Karmic over here. The fix works.
I upgraded from fresh Jaunty install, where I believe it used to work
out of the box or I think would've searched for this "bug" earlier.

Found the solution in Ubuntu Forums:

In a nutshell: The key
gconf-editor -> apps -> metacity -> global_keybindings ->
switch_windows_backward
was not set. Changing it to Tab makes it work.

I have the same issue in Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10 released on 29th October.
I have a fresh install from the live CD, which also has the same behaviour.
I can confirm that I have applied all available updates to my system.
