Nigel: I downloaded the debian package to see if the patch applies, but according to this debian bugreport (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=552588) their version of synaptic does not have a quick-search field (yet). I see no reason why the ubuntu patch shouldn't apply, though. *
