yes it helps, my hp laserjet1020 starts printing a image pdf site after
20seconds (was more than 5min before)

Here's the printingbuginfo output.
The situation hasn't changed with recent cups updates. I've just tried
to print a PDF which got through to cups more than 15 minutes after I've
hit "Print" in evince.
