As Nathan said, the versionning 3.12c-0ubuntu1 is conventionnally correct.
Plus, upstream has also version 3.12b. And one more reason is that their
tarball is named devede-3.12c.tar.bz2 so we have to match that too. And
superseeding can occur with no problem.

I disagree with that. Ubuntu uses a certain versioning scheme. The first
part of the Ubuntu version is the upstream version number. In this case,
that is 3.12c. The upstream version is followed by a hyphen, and then
the Debian revision number. Since this package is not in Debian, that

There's an error in the name. It should be devede_3.12-0ubuntu3, or
3.12-2ubuntu0. The 'C' letter indicates the revision number (I just
fixed some translation errors).
