Not really. mdev is smaller and simpler to use. It doesn't need any
config files, it doesn't need proper bootstrapped /dev, it is not a
daemon (for what on initram?).

We definitely don't want this in the udeb.
Is there any reason you can't just use udev? I suspect it's more likely
to work well on Ubuntu, and we use it in our initramfs.
