I have exatly the same problem as cariboo907 wrote. Deluge starts but
the window isn't repainting itself so only gray rectangles are visible.
There is no visible cpu and hdd usage. Top says about 5% of cpu
utilization. No log generated in /var/crash because there is no crash.
console says nothing
Does the problem still occur with deluge 1.1.3+dfsg-1? If so, is a crash
report being generated in /var/crash? Are you seeing high CPU or HDD
usage when deluge becomes unresponsive?

I've been using 1.1.2.dfsg-1 for a couple of weeks and it worked well.
Today I decided to limit the the upload speed, and tried to restart, and
now deluge won't start again. When opening in a terminal all I get is
1.1.2 and nothing else. Checking ps I get the following:
ps ax | grep deluge
5676
I purged deluge and reinstalled it, see screen-shot to see what I get
now

Ubuntu better. Deluge has had significant code changes with
1.1.2.dfsg-1, available in Ubuntu Jaunty. Could you please test with
this version to see if the problem still exists? You can find out more
