Don't know if this helps but I got it working by reinstalling udev and
running manually init.d script mountdevsubfs.sh as a super-user.

I can also confirm an empty screen when starting konsole, but my konsole
does not crash when closing the window.
My .xsession-errors shows the following when attempting to start
konsole:
konsole(18828) Konsole::Pty::flowControlEnabled: Unable to get flow control
status, terminal not connected.
