Hi,
I can confirm this on a Dell E6400 using Jaunty 9.04 (32 bit). This
laptop has the Intel:
Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller
Whenever I try with any external monitor to mirror screens, if I turn on that
monitor before mirroring screens, I get the message
Method invoke
Forgot to state in last post I'm connected to an external Samsung T240
Syncmaster.
By the way - at the login screen i do see the screens mirrored but as soon as I
login - one of the screens goes to standby.

With Ubuntu 9.04, on LG LS70 express laptop - with intel chipset, all updated -
i have same problem.
BUT inputing "xrandr --auto" in terminal works fine and sets the 2 displays
right.

I have Simon's problem. Lenovo T61 Thinkpad, Ubuntu 9.04 with Nvidia
Quadro NVS 140M. I tried the nv driver because the proprietary driver
doesn't support XRandR, but in this configuration, any attempt to make
the laptop display to the built-in laptop screen results in this error.

Hello all,
I can confirm this problem on a Lenovo T61 Thinkpad using Ubuntu 9.04
with Nvidia graphics card. I used to work with the proprietary driver
(which worked rather fine) and wanted to try out how it works without,
and as it occurs, it doesn't work.

I have also experienced this problem. Trying to attach the external
monitor after boot and setting the external monitor to mirror (800x600
on both internal and external) causes "Could not apply the selected
configuration" "Method invoked for ApplyConfiguration returned FALSE but
did not set error"
I'm getting the same error on Jaunty, using the rolled-back (Intrepid)
version of the Intel driver (unfortunately, I'm one of those people
whose graphics systems do NOT play nicely with Jaunty's updated Intel
drivers). Anybody have any thoughts as to potential workarounds?
Graphics info:
00:02.0
After recent updates, I am no longer able to duplicate the problem.
I'll assume it's fixed for now, and re-open if I encounter it again.

Built-in monitor, and an external one on a docking station. I use the
