the new ati driver 9.3 and updates fix this at least for me works with

creat a shortcut to dsp1 set the name to dsp and set the premissions on the
shortcut in folder

with ATI AGP the problem is compiz disable visual effects & video & 3d games
work no flickering
useing old Nvidia 5700 fx AGP i don't have to disable effects it works

and renamed it to dsp in dir now it loads but no soud

If you disable Compiz and it still flickers, then this bug cannot be a
duplicate of bug #179042. If you mean tearing instead of flickering then
it could be a duplicate of bug #303697.
