This should work with lucid, but I have not been able to make it work in
maverick, I sadly don't know what the problem is there.

You probably have to add
options dvb_usb_dib0700 dvb_usb_dib0700_ir_proto=0
to your /etc/modprobe.d/options file; then reboot the machine.
