My I also suggest moving gcolor's old icon path to the more standard
'/usr/share/icons/' directory within the launcher's file to be able to
theme it appropriately? (i.e.: Icon=gcolor2)

I have created a new version of this logo, if anyone is interested. It's
basically just a refresh of the existing concept. I have tried to submit
it to the gcolor2 project, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of
activity there. Here's a link to my version:

I wholeheartedly agree with this bug (the current icon is damned ugly),
but it isn't a paper cut. It requires considerable time to craft a new
icon, and it doesn't affect the default Ubuntu install. Furthermore, it
is not directly a usability bug (although pretty is a feature).
