You have to install it before OpenOffice.org will see it, the package is

Java 1.6.0_07 is 'Sun Java' which is a proprietary binary only jdk.
openjdk-6 is the new open source java jdk which was why I was asking if
you had tested with openjdk-6 it is a separate and generally less buggy
version.

Are you using openjdk-6? It might be that the JDK you are using is
buggy... especially since it is failing in what appears to be the JDK.

imackee,
The version I tested with was 3.0.1-7ubuntu1 on Jaunty which is
currently being built for Hardy. It should be available by tomorrow in
the ppa.

Following the failed attempt to investigate this bug using a Jaunty live

Hi Chris,
I have tried the live CD of Jaunty 9.04. Unfortunately there are two
problems. The first I have come across before with live cds in that the
system does not allow me to open a file on the hard disc because I do
not have permission. This applies even though I have created a new user

Can you still reproduce this bug on Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty)? You can
download a test (desktop) live cd from

As far as I can tell this bug is fixed on Ubuntu Jaunty as I tried to do
a copy/paste and it works fine.

Yes, the "workaround" imackee describes is the only way I have found to
copy database tables without crashing Base. It is clumsy, to say the
least. This is a bad bug.

Further to my message above, it has been possible to create the new file

I can confirm a similar crash with Ubuntu 8.04 and OpenOffice 3.0 using
a KDE desktop with all the latest patches applied. From memory, it was
previously possible to save a membership table to a different name at
the financial year end. TableCurrent for year 2008-2009 could be saved
to a name table
I can confirm this bug. OO Base 2.4.1 is crashing whenever I try to copy
and paste a table from one database to another. It crashes even if the
tables are of identical structure and I'm just trying to "Append Data"

Very simple: I have one file "file1.odb" and a second one: "file2.odb".
Now I go to the tables of "file1.odb" make a right-click on one of the
tables I have there and select "copy". Then I change to "file2.odb" and
try a "paste". Now OO crashes as described above.
If any more information is needed
What are the steps to attempt to copy a table from one file to another?
Thanks,
Chris Cheney
