This was caused by not restarting firefox after update, That is how i
reproduced it.

I was experiencing the same problem using firefox 3.0.5 on Ubuntu 8.10.
The back button is disabled, even though I have been following links.
The search bar does not function, though I can enter text into it. The
address bar does not update. The "loading" animation on most tabs does
not stop. I'm a

issue in Jaunty. Please try troubleshooting the issue by creating a new
Firefox Profile. this can be done by starting firefox from the command
