In newer versions, error messages for under-specified raw files are more
instructive (hopefully); hence closing this. (When testing with 14.4.0+,
please note that -s and -u have been replaced with -e signed and -e
unsigned, respectively.)

Man pages are provided by packages, usually and Matthew has sox to this
bug so you may be able to - its just the Doc Team that don't provide man
pages.

I would like to cover typical use cases in manual, about conversions...
raw -> wav
wav -> raw
with example of various formats, etc
I thought we can add things to man pages just in ubuntu, without waiting
for upstream.
But ok I will instead ask upstream.

Man pages are produced upstream, command line utilities are most likely
searched for help using "man". Sox may use lame and has a very good
guide in the forum.
