Glad to hear the newer kernel will resolve this issue. The 2.6.27-10
kernel will remain in intrepid-proposed to get a bit more testing but
will eventually become available as an update. Thanks.

Can you test the 2.6.27-10.20 kernel that is currently in intrepid-
proposed. To test this kernel do the following:
1) cd /etc/apt/sources.list.d
2) create a file "intrepid-proposed.list" which contains the following two
lines (sudo vim intrepid-proposed.list):
deb http://archive
Sorry, forgot to mention the actual message:
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
It happens as first output after the initial "Starting up...", with a timestamp
around 1sec.
