I'm currently running Karmic Alpha 5 on my laptop, and the soundcard now
seems to be fully supported. The only thing I've noticed is, that as
default, sound was muted, and I couldn't just un-mute it - I had to go
to the soundsettings and un-mute it from there.

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic .

I jaunty, config files has to has a .conf at the end, and the alsa-base
file has therefore been renamed, so the fix is now the following:

Well ... the workaround does only work for the speakers, not for the line out
(on Medion Akoya MD 96630, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/312302)
If there is a possiblity to get the sound work or to get the speakers work out
of the box it would be great.
