Yes I'm able to reproduce in karmic alpha 6 + all updates. Trying to
launch it from the shell of the second session I get a similar message:
$ nm-applet
** (nm-applet:3891): WARNING **: request_name(): Could not
acquire the NetworkManagerUserSettings service as it is already taken.
Return: 3
