No sound on Jaunty on IBM Thinkpad R31, IBM Thinkpad T40, Compaq
Presario 3.3 gHz.
Both Jaunty upgraded to Alpha level and Alpha Alternate Install have no
sound.
Copying alsactl from Intrepid sbin to Jaunty sbin enables remembering
the sound level control instead of always forcing mute. However,

Not a production machine. If no one ran on Alpha's and Beta's and
Release Candidate, Jaunty would be an even bigger mess than Intrepid has
been.
I reported a "won't even boot" launchpad bug #259398 on August 19 which
still wasn't fixed by Release. Lots of people then got bit, especially
on upgra

Are you still affected? You should not use Jaunty on production machines
at the moment, as it is far from finished. I recommend that you wait
until the official release in April next year :)
