See the stories above, maybe a solution there exists. But nothing is
broken in Ubuntu and it's perfectly capable of accomplishing the same
tasks as before - many suspect foul play is at hand here as hotmail
tried to deliberately break it.

This is a known issue. Nothing changed in Ubuntu, Microsoft changed some
things on their server side.
