It appears this my bug it a duplicate of #280434, since the solution
suggested there works. After deactivating "Detecting RANDR (monitor)
changes" and a reboot the flickering has also disappeared.

I have deactivated: "Detecting RANDR (monitor) changes"-service. Since
then crashing has stopped, but there is still a problem. Every few
minuites the elements on the screen disappear, turn black and then are
rebuild. I guess my normal X.org- logfile is suitable to point to the
source of the proble
What may be related is the fact that from time to time I get the
message: "A new monitor output has been connected. Do you wish to run a
configuration tool to adjust the monitor setup?" even though I have a
Laptop and so definited haven't connected/disconnected a monitor.

I like to provide a backtrace, but
a) the suggested method in

is outdated, since there is now xorg.conf in the new Kubuntu. So how can I do
it?
b) gdb itself crashes after start leaving the whole system unresponsive.

Thank for your report but I cannot reproduce the crash and if you have
no backtrace to debug your crash, I fear that the developers cannot do
anything for you.
If you are able to reproduce the crash, can you try to obtain a backtrace by
following the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Debugg
