in my last install of karmic beta I don't experience this error, noone
seems to care about it, but the problem is gone since usplash is not
used anymore.

here is today log
Last operations i did:
-switch to tty1 and give <1> to change loglevel to 1
-give to show tasks
-shutdown
-notice the usual hang
-give another time
-give the usual to shutdown
-reboot
-cat /var/log/kern.log and cut today first session log
in this log the problem should be cle
today i was able to get the last 9 kernel logs, cut into days.
some could not be related to this issue some others are, i don't know
how to help you more on this regard.
tell me is something else is needed, i'm here to help (because the
problem is quite annoying)

It simply doesn't switch to a console that doesn't exist!
And I don't see what could be necessary to make it complete.
Tell me what's needed and I'll try to provide it.
I'm trying to register a complete kernel log but haven't been very
successful.
