I've not the problem with Gnome+Metacity. The problem is only with Compiz (AWN
turn on or off has no effects).
I've join my compiz profile.

Can you turn off compiz or AWN to try to isolate the problem :
Try the following :
- Gnome only.
- AWN + gnome
- Compiz + gnome
- EVerything.
