Now I use 0.7.1~rc4.1.cf199a964-0ubuntu2 and the patch seems to be
incorporated there because it works.

What can I read about testing a patch? I'm unsure on how to install it.
I know how to apply a patch and how to build a program from source but I
don't know how to replicate the exact configure arguments etc. that is
used to build the real deb-packages. Please advice..

i think the patch from bug 290177 might actually fix this too. please
test.
If it doesnt help, please stop NM and run it from terminal like:
sudo su
NM_SERIAL_DEBUG=1 NetworkManager --no-daemon 2>&1 | tee /tmp/nm-serial.txt
and attach the serial file after reproducing both attemps.
