Thanks for the update Flapane. For now I'm going to go ahead and close
this bug since you no longer able to reproduce due to the hw changes.
If anyone else following along here has the same hw and is able to
reproduce with the latest Karmic 9.10 Beta, please open a new bug.

I'm so sorry, unfortunately I changed my hardware just before going on
holidays, and of course the problems doesn't happen now.
There should be (or there was) some sort of issue with that combination of
hardware.
