I solved the problem just upgrading the BIOS firmware from the INTEL
website
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2980&OSFullName=All+Operating+Systems&lang=eng&strOSs=All&submit=Go!
i did the upgrade from Windows Vista system so it was fast.

I have in my hard drive two kernels now and used just them.
The first is new, installed with an upgrade via internet of the 8.04 to 8.10
intrepid and the version is2.6.27-7-generic and DOESN'T WORK . The

Sorry, I should have been more specific. Can you actually tell me the
specific full version number for the 2.6.27-7 kernel where this does not
occur? It should look something like 2.6.27-7.15 . If you do 'cat
/proc/version_signature' that should output the full version number.
