I can 100% confirm what Mike Holland just wrote. Had this problem
(totaly system freeze) after upgrading, problem now gone with clean

More info:
As suspected, this bug does not show on a system installed from the official
8.10 release CD.
It was a problem with the beta release, but more significantly, it did not go

So

the other bugs.

I was able to repeat this using the same phone on a totally different laptop

Again, the OS is crashed/hung. Different phone on same laptop was OK.

kernel trace?
It hangs a second or so after "LCP terminated by peer".
Does NM load any modules into the kernel? (that are not used by pon/pppd)
Why would the machine crash from NM while pon works? Different options to pp

The same thing happens with me on Intrepid (i.e. works fine with pppd,
but network-manager freezes the system). FYI I have a Toshiba Satellite
A200 1GB, connecting via PPP with a Telemodem Z020.
