I installed 10.04 with my Wacom Graphirre 2 Tablet plugged in with no
issues whatsoever.
I DID however have the problem described and reported the fact back prior to
9.04 and from memory it was widely
reported and I haven't had issues since.

Had exactly the same problem and even went to trouble of sourcing three
separate install media (CDs and DVDs) only to find out that the WACOM
tablet was the offending critter. Mind you it would be nice if Ubuntu
could get sorted so it didn't require unplugging of tablet prior to
install

I completed another successful install with the Wacom tablet unplugged
and without touching anything to verify that the screen blanking was not
involved. I then shut it down after logging into the new system and
verifying there were no errors and shut it down. I plugged the Wacom
tablet back in a
I was able to get the installation to complete with the Wacom tablet
removed. However, I did see the screen start to blank and hit a button
to get it back. The installation finished and prompted me to restart.
At this point, I removed the CD and rebooted, and was greeted with the
new Intrepid log
