NVClock 0.8b4 is out now and it contains the smartdimmer app. The ubuntu
packages can be updated. Kanotix also just added smartdimmer and they
based on this one. That one could be used. I'll look for the url.

According to the README file of Smartdimmer the tool is obsolete.
