I seems to have similar problem. After starting Listen from Terminal I'm
getting the following:
/var/lib/python-support/python2.6/musicbrainz2/model.py:21: DeprecationWarning:

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since
this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work,
I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.
I do get this same traceback in Xubuntu 8.04.1 with all updates as of
01-11-2009.

I dunno about reproducing this. I just installed it.
sudo apt-get/aptitude install listen.
Then on terminal run listen
$listen
then When listen opens used preferences
Music > Preferences
in General
checked Enable trayicon
checked Close to systray
" Enqueue as default action

running Listen in a terminal? If the errors are in a log, please attach
the entire log file as a separate uncompressed attachment. Also, please
attach ~/.xsession-errors.

I installed listen on a newly formatted ubuntu 8.10 and while I'm
listening to a song I'm still getting the same traceback.
