I don't know if my problem is related or not but when I try the Ubuntu
or Kubuntu Desktop image on a USB Drive created by USB creator it will

I'm running it right now.This is on a different machine, however - it's
still an issue on the other one.
I don't know if there's some special method all these automated programs
use that conflicts with my hardware or something - it does work when I
create a disk manually with a casper-rw partition
Is this still an issue with the latest daily-live CD [1]?

I just tried it using today's daily build of Ubuntu, and it had the same
problem, so it has nothing to do with Xubuntu - it just doesn't work :(
I should note that this was with persistence enabled.
