This happens for me too on jaunty with all my cameras (EOS 50D, 350D,
Ixus 70, haven't tried my Nokia phone)
It seems to happen because f-spot and (gvfs? nautilus?) both want to use
the device when it's plugged in. gvfs to "mount" it, f-spot to import
from it. When you "unmount" the icon on your d
with which version are you getting that? could be this more like a
libgphoto2 issue? may you please test with jaunty? thanks in advance

I still have the same problem, this what I got today after running
f-spot from command line and only try to import from the 450:
(f-spot:): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: GdkPixbufLoader finalized without calling
gdk_pixbuf_loader_close() - this is not allowed. You must explicitly end the
data stream
