Is there someway to make this bug Release-Critical. I don't think
release Kubuntu 8.10 can be released in less than month unless this is
fixed.

I just installed kubuntu 8.10 beta and I can confirm this issue. If you
search kick off for non kde 4 applications. It will display 2 entries
One is the .desktop file.
