Using Lucid beta1, I find that this occurs even if I explicitly divert
the display *back* to the LCD before suspending.
1. Connect external monitor
2. Divert display to external monitor only
3. Divert display back to LCD
4. Suspend
5. Disconnect external monitor
5. Resume -- no display!

Very annoying.
After disconnecting external monitor and resuming from suspend there's
no image on LCD screen. But it appears after I type in password blindly.
Also notebook hardware key combo Fn+F5 (switch LCD/external) doesn't
work until logged in.

The same behaviour can be observed if the external monitor was not even enabled
before going to suspension, meaning:
1. connect external monitor, but do not configure it (it won't show anything)
2. Go to suspension and wake

Alt-F2 xrandr --auto bswitches back to the builtin LCD
panel, but not automatically)
