while starting up Synaptic package manger.

I got this with the GNOME and KDE 32-bit versions and the GNOME 64-bit
versions of the beta with all updates as of today and the -7 kernel.
Jockey will freeze and then crash when a driver is selected and the
"activate" button is pressed.

System Settings. System Settings crashes, too. In my setup I have too
monitors but one of them is turned off on logon.

This may be completely unrelated, but I unplugged my Hauppauge WinTV PVR
USB2, and when I rebooted, jockey not only did not crash, but it
actually detected some drivers for the first time. And most definately
unrelated, this same thing allowed me to add new printers again, and
`lsusb` works again t

I got this error when attempting to change my 'Visual Effects' (in
System > Preferences > Appearance) from "None" to "Normal".
It is possibly related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145360 - I've
just grabbed the latest version of compiz from the software update, and
wondered if that had fixed
It also happens on amd64 if you try to use jockey-gtk and change the
driver. The auth window appears, but stays grey.
A workaround is to run jockey-gtk as su.
