It would be best to file the custom emoticon bug as a separate bug at
bugs.kde.org. I'm closing this bug since the original issue is fixed.

Same here on debian experimental versions ( 4:4.2.0-1 ); either ubuntu

I can confirm the bug, with both KDE 4.1 and 4.2.
Unfortunately, with KDE 4.2 the option "Download and display custom emoticons"
disappeared from the WLM plugin preferences. Hence, I do not have alternatives
now and I loose contents of a conversation every time a custom emoticon is used.
Note tha
This bug probably doesn't need forwarding to KDE because there's a very
high likelihood that it is fixed in KDE 4.2. (The WLM plugin was
rewritten)
Testing with KDE 4.2 wouldn't hurt either.

I would like to restart that setting whitout losing others (like general
Sorry, now I'm not able to reproduce the bug, because even if I change
the settings again and restart Kopete, it still uses my own icons when
it can, and just text when it doesn't.
The friend who helped my sending emoticons is offline now, but I'll try
to retry tomorrow after deleting Kopete confi

last 10-20 lines from the terminal to a text file and attach the text
file to this bug report. Then you can run kdebugdialog again and
deselect all.
