Apparently you have to enable virtualization technology in the BIOS and click
the VT-x/AMD-v checkbox in Virtualbox.

Enabling virtualization technology in the BIOS and clicking the
VT-x/AMD-v checkbox in Virtualbox solved the same problem for me and
booted the 64 bit system. However, everything is extremely slow then and
graphics are not displayed correctly!
