thunderbird 3.0.10
I have noticed that in Edit - Account settings there is a parameter named
Outgoing Server (SMTP) for each account. The parameter works nicely, I think
the bug is solved for me :)

After some more thought, if not a bug, this might be an issue with the
SMTP server re-writing the from address with the account you

Update: I find that my SMTP login name, which happens to be an e-mail
address, is being used as the from e-mail instead of my account e-mail

I am having this problem on Ubuntu Linux 8.10 64-bit with Thunderbird
Version 2.0.0.21 (20090318). It keeps sending my work e-mail from my
personal address even though I have my work e-mail selected to send
from. Both are on IMAP and I am sending via a different SMTP server than

It appears I spoke too soon before. This bug is _not_ fixed, and still
occurs in 2.0.0.18+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.10.1. It seems also that when
replying to a message sent to one account, if you change the "From:" to
a second account (note, not a second identity on the first account), the

John,
Thank you for your reply. After I sent this bug report I realized
that I sent it to the wrong place. I am having problems with
evolution, not thunderbird. Thunderbird is working great, and does
not have this problem. I have resent this bug report to evolution.
Again thanks for your reply.
If you set the identities correctly than restart thunderbird you
shouldn't see this issue. In the preferences you should see Manage

This bug appears to be fixed (for me) in 2.0.0.18+nobinonly-

using an identity address.

I can confirm this same problem on Ubuntu 8.10. No matter what identity
I choose when writing an email the main identity's email address shows
up in the "from" field. I can also confirm that this behavior works
properly in the Windows version of Thunderbird.
