Id just like to note that apparently this same bug gives the same
problem on the same motherboard for this user:

on both 8.04 and 9.04 live cd's.
Ive asked him to register here and provide more info if needed/possible,
but the bug seems real enoug

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try

Finally, I found a solution for this problem. We have to change the kernel boot
line and append a kernel argument:
pci=nomsi
And it will work on Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10 alpha.

Started the PC with the 'quiet' and 'splash' removed, and the picture
was the output. If I remove the hard disk Ubuntu Intrepid Alpha 5 starts
normally.

Hi tacuix,
Can you boot the Alpha5 LiveCD for Intrepid with the 'quiet' and
'splash' options removed. Could you then take a photo of the screen
with the error messages that appear and attach it to this bug report.
